Deja Eww for Toste as he leads his team to another win

Deja Eww blew a 4-1 2nd-half lead, but their fearless leader Steven Toste scored an unassisted tally with just 27 tics left on the clock to carry his team to a narrow 5-4 win over Just The Tip. Toste amassed 2g-2a in this matchup while unheralded playmaker Kelly Cameron, in her 100th career game, picked up 3 assists in the victory. Balls Deep lean on rookie tender to earn first victory of the season

After allowing 7 goals in his OFBHL debut last week, rookie netminder Jason Fong (Mel Blondeau's brother), was the game's 1st star as he stopped 30 of 32 shots in the Balls Deep 4-2 win over WinTurris Coming who had a 2-0 lead at the half. Captain Michel Blondeau and sophomore Larissa Patterson each had 1g-2a while Sylvain Guibord had 1g-1a in the victory. On the losing side, Frank Zic had both goals for WinTurris which also got 44 saves from tender Marc 'Rock' Laroche.

1:10 - Grabner by the Josi 4 Shameless 2

Quach with a vengeance

Returning sophomore goalie Steve Quach turned aside 41 of 43 shots while his captain Jason Muscant sniped 2 goals as their Grabner By The Josi scored a 4-2 win over Shameless who got 1 goal each from Mark Yeates and Andre Monette.

Original Four Stars of the Week

  1. Steve Toste - the OFBHL boasts a few "dual threats", players who can play goal and out, but none of them have the skill in both like Mr. Toste, that skill was on display in week 2, first Steve was a wall in net stopping 35 of 37 shots for TND then Steve stepped out of the net and notched 2G and 2A including the winner with 27 seconds remaining in another victory.

  2. Jeff Murphy - (in)famous veteran Original Jeff made his last game before his pending nuptuals and honeymoon memorable picking up a hat trick and an assist in a dominant win for Stefanus, congrats on the wedding Jeff and Val, we couldn't be happier for you!

  3. Larissa Patterson - the under-rated sophomore sniper may be in for a big season playing with perennial scoring ace Michel Blondeau, Larissa would be in on 3 straight second period goals as her team owned the period en route to a 4-2 win.

  4. Steve Quach - Steve has taken over this season for the injured Vince St-Pierre and provided my preseason favourite GBTJ with stellar goaltending in week 2 turning aside 41 of 43 shots, this team will go a long way if the well travelled Quach can continue to hold the fort in goal since goal scoring will not be an issue.
