Week 1 - Close games and high scores the story as the 40th season of OFBHL hockey begins

Week one is in the books and we had a great week of ball hockey, on the scoreboard only one game ould really be considered a blowout so the teams look as balanced as ever. Only 6 minor penalties were called on the day and it looks like veterans and rookies alike have adjusted to the O4 style of play as the games were all clean and fast... keep up the great work!

OFBHL rookie Austin Perron snipes a hat-trick plus adds 1 assist, while Brad Smith, Amanda Murray, Litt St-Jean and Ty St-Jean each get 1g-1a as Austin Powered hold on to win a shootout 7-5 (en) over Big Bad Garneau.

Sharpshooting co-captain Jeff Murphy got 2g-1a and co-captain Jean-Luc Garneau, his star sister Josianne Garneau, and her defensive specialist hubby Jean-François Labelle each got 2 points in a losing effort.

Nameless Monas still searching for team name and their first victory as they start the season with a close loss

Spare sniper Shawn Lemoine fires home 2 goals and playmaker Sean Frewen dishes out 3 assists in No ReGretzkys narrow 4-3 victory over Team Mona.

Spare sophomore Mylène Fréchette tallied 2 goals and usual goal-scorer Spencer McDonald collected 3 rare assists.

Serenity Now! looking for therapy after late game collapse gives GY the win

Goulden Years were down 3-0 at the half and 4-2 with about 10 minutes left to play....but then their Captain Clutch Brock Murray took over as he sniped 4 goals in those final minutes including a natural hat-trick. Playmaker Don Prior tallied a hat-trick while O4 rookie Elise Berthiaume chipped in 3 assists in their 7-4 triumph.

For the losing Serenity Now, star rearguard Mark Nash got 2g-2a while his BFF Jason Muscant added 1g-2a.

Shooter Club raise a glass to victory

Sophomore blueliner René de Montigny is this game's 1st star as he snipes his 1st career hat-trick and adds 1 assist, speedy Sean Robertson gets 1g-2a, and the 1st star's ever-improving sophomore wife Mylène Fréchette dishes out 3 assists as their Shooter Club hang on to edge the Douche Canoes 5-3.

In the loss, cannon-baller Bernie Car picked up 3 assists on goals by captain Shawn Weatherdon, Gisèle Séguin, and Sophia Weber

Doddy Style do it with style over preseason fave Dad Jokes

This game between Doddy Style and Dad Jokes was tied 3-3 with less than 15 minutes to play, but then the stylish squad tallied 3 straight goals and held on to defeat the Jokers 7-5. Young star Eric Bekkers sniped a hat-trick plus 1 assist, underrated speedy forward Greg Patterson tallied 2 goals including the game-winner, and rearguard Craig Richer had 1g-2a for his winning team.

Fireballer Bradley McCarter had 4g-1a while spare Litt St-Jean had 1g-3a in a losing effort.

Top Heavy look unbalanced dropping a blowout to Les (not so) Incompetents

In the most lopsided game of this opening day, Les Incompetents scored 4 unanswered goals in the the first 10 minutes of play and never really looked back en route to an impressive 7-3 victory over Top Heavy. Solid rearguards Patrick Auger and Chris Stott each had 2g-1a, while captain MVP Michel Blondeau and his talented wife Melissa Blondeau each had 1g-2a in the win.

Sharpshooter Frank Zic had 2 goals and returning star blueliner Dan Blondeau had 2 assists in the tough loss.

1:10 - Nipples of Steel 6 The Reach Arounds 4

Return of the Toste too much for TRA in high flying affair

Returning star playmaker Steven Toste snipes 4 goals and chips in 1 assist and shooter Missy Newhook gets 1g-2a as the Nipples of Steel survive a late surge by The Reach Arounds in a 6-4 triumph.

OFBHL rookie Tim Squires got 2g-1a while his ever-improving linemate Mark Yeates got 1g-2a in the narrow loss.
