Game 1 of the week and the Fall 2023 season was an epic goalie duel between OFBHL rookie Phil Downer, of the Dirty Downers, and veteran star netminder Russell Latham who backstops the Philthy Phil's Philanthropists. Philthy playmaker Don Prior opened the scoring a few minutes in, but Dirty dangler Steven Toste would tie the game less than a minute later. About 5 minutes after that, the Philthy squad would retake the lead as returning offensive player Mike Stefanic fired home a nice low shot passed the rookie tender. Again though, just a few minutes later, a couple of Dirty spares would team up as Steve Andrews banged one home with the help of Aurelie Bernier . Score was 2-2 at the break, with the Philthy team having a slight edge in shots 29 to 24.
